8FOR ADMITS AND PARENTS
Will the admits be taken off campus? Students will stay on campus at all times. Hosts are instructed to not take admits off campus. Where will the admits be taken once they arrive on campus? Admits will be taken to Covel Grand Horizon A. Here students will check in, turn in liability forms, and store their luggage in a nearby room. Once checked in students and family may enjoy breakfast before the program begins. How long will the parents be able to stay with their child? Parents may stay with their admit from 7am-6pm on April 13th, 2018 & during Bruin Day April 14, 2018. *Note: Only admitted students are able to stay overnight. * Note: Parking for parents/students: Sunset Village Parking lot $12 per day. How much is the event? The event is free of cost for the admit students and their entire family/relatives. We will provide all meals. Students are welcome, but not required, to bring money to purchase souvenirs from the UCLA Store. Do I have to stay for the entire event? Admits who decide to stay overnight, must stay for the entire event. No exceptions. If you cannot stay overnight, you may still participate in Friday programming plus come back Saturday and/or Sunday morning to be part of activities! How do we know if we are guaranteed an overnight stay? An e-mail confirmation will be sent. Is Raza Weekend the same as Bruin Day? Bruin Day overlaps with Raza Weekend but we include it in our programming from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturday April 14th. Students will attend Bruin Day and will then re-group to continue the Raza Weekend planned events. Unlike Bruin Day, Raza Weekend gives Latinx and Xicanx students a more personal UCLA experience. Students will have the opportunity to receive personalized answers from other Raza Students on Campus. Where can I register? Students must RSVP online through their UCLA Admissions Portal. You can find that link on our registration tab! Are there any documents I need to sign? Yes, under the registration tab you can find the yield forms. They must be printed out, signed, and turned in when you check in on Friday, April 13th ( parent signature required if student is under age of 18) Are there Workshops & Activities for Parents? Of course! Raza Weekend strives to make sure that parents also get the opportunity to visit and enjoy the UCLA Raza experience. There are scheduled workshops, tours, and presentations designed just for parents. Visit our Program tab for more information! |
